Class Description: This sewing pattern will take you step-by-step to create a 2 piece set of cosmetic bags made from seat belt webbing! Seat belts are shimmery and luxurious, yet durable and easy to clean and sew! The bags are fully lined and close with a zipper. The inward folding end panels allow them to open very wide letting you easily see and grab items inside. When not in use, one fits easily inside the other for storage. Great for cosmetics, computer accessories or, dress up one up with a ring fob and tassel to carry as an evening bag! Instructions included to make with or without a handle and option to bind the zipper tape or leaving it exposed.
Skills learned: zipper installation, zipper pull installation (if using zipper by the yard), zipper end hardware installation, binding zipper tape (if making handle option; if desired), working with seatbelts, sew in lined bag

Included in the kit: approximately 5.5 yds of seatbelt that I will precut, Cosmetic Duo pattern, and 4 zipper ends (cost is $25). Once registered and paid I will contact students individually and choose belt colors and placement. If students wish to obtain the kit and pattern individually then they will need to cut the seatbelts prior to class.

Cosmetic Duo Seatbelt Kit with pattern - $25 (Suzanne may provide or students may obtain individually). Choice of 1, 2 or 3 color seatbelts in kit.
3/8 yd background fabric (44" wide) (suggested Duck Canvas or quilting cotton, to match seatbelt color)
1/4 yd medium-weight woven fusible interfacing (20" wide) (suggested Pellon SF101)
1/2 yd lining fabric (44" wide) for lining, handle and zipper tabs (suggested quilting cotton)
2 - Zippers with pulls (#4.5 or #5) with handle small: at least 20", large: at least 22"; without handle small: at least 14", large: at least 16"
4 zipper end hardware (optional). Suzanne will have these available to purchase at class if desired. Cost is $5 for 4 silver zipper ends.
Clear/Invisible thread (suggested) or thread to match belt color(s) and lining fabric
1/4" wide double sided fabric tape (sticky fusible web tape)
Temporary pen or chalk wheel
Sewing machine with basic sewing supplies and rotary cutter
14 or 16 needle (denim/microtex/top stitch needle, I prefer a microtex or topstitch personally)

Homework before class: cut lining pieces and adhere interfacing, cut handle and zipper tab pieces, and cut background piece as in the following chart:
